What do these numbers mean?
How often the controller sends an input report to the PC. 250 Hz is one report interval every 4 ms; 1,000 Hz is 1 ms; 8,000 Hz is 0.125 ms. A higher polling rate does not mean end-to-end game latency is reduced by the exact same multiplier.
How finely an analogue stick position can be represented by the controller. Stock Sony controllers test at around 8-bit / 256 positions per axis. Performance-board precision settings can provide much finer output, depending on firmware, controller mode, stick module and configuration.
*Configuration note: SuiOvOi runs natively at 14-bit stick resolution, with higher configurable precision modes available up to 18-bit depending on firmware/output mode. FireBird and HyperStrike precision/quantization options are also firmware and output-mode dependent. Figures shown are wired PC board capabilities/configurator settings rather than a promise of identical effective resolution in every game or mode.
